My name is Teresa Decher and I am a young actress/producer living in Los Angeles.
This blog follows my journey as I work my way in to Hollywood, and includes experiences, advice, and interviews on creating nano budget projects (The Nano Budget Deal), news on my upcoming feature, and personal experiences working as an actress. Occasionally, I even write about some off-topic adventures, like back-packing through Europe.
This is My Story:
Having a strong love for stories and adventure since I was a child, I discovered my true passion for movies after watching the original Pirates of the Caribbean at the age of 14. Right away, I enrolled in acting classes and fell in love with the craft.
At the age of 17, I was out of high-school and already working as much as possible on whatever film roles I could find. When there wasn’t work, I started writing, producing, and acting in my own short films. After completing a total of 4 shorts, working on international Nike campaigns, and landing roles on many indie films in my home-town of Portland, I felt it was time to explore the city of dreams — Los Angeles.
Establishing myself in a bigger market was harder than I could have imagined; they say you are a small fish in a big pond, but it was more like being a microscopic plankton in a vast ocean.
When I got a call from a friend that had cast me in the project, saying that he wanted to make the film for reals, I convinced him to let me help produce the movie as well. We discovered that we shared a brain-wave, and over the next year, we worked together to create his writer/director feature-film debut for the character-driven comedy SUPERSEEDS, pitched as Superbad with superpowers. The film (in which I also acted in) will be my feature film-producer debut, and is scheduled for release later this year.
Now, after being in LA for almost 2 years, my work load has picked up like crazy. I recently played the lead in the 2012 sci-fi-action-flick feature-pitch project Light Masters and during the last week of August, I will be shooting a lead role in the new web series RED SCARE as well as a recurring role on “Act Out”.
In addition to acting projects, we are also in pre-production for more exciting projects, and I could not love life more.
Stay tuned. Over n’ out.
